Fuel For The Soul

into my heart

When I don't know what to say, or I am at a loss. I turn to music. Music is the one thing that  I know it will never let me down.   As far I can remember, music has always been flowing in my household as a child and as an adult.

We all have those songs that take us on a trip down memory lane.  No matter how many times we have heard them, when they come on it's like the first time all over again.

Time stands still. For, four minutes.

Those minutes are magical.

You can feel the softness of lips touching, hands as they cup your face, eyes that sparkles, the way you throw your head back and laugh, how you bury your face in their chest. Those moments are yours and only yours, no one could ever take them away.

A friend once said, all songs are just poems with music.  A simple statement, but one that has changed the way I look at music. I am an avid writer of poems.  I dig deep within when I write.  I find myself reading the lyrics to songs after I listened to them the first time. I want them  to suck me in with more than just a rhythm. It's    an emotional roller coaster ride of highs and lows.

I have two songs right now that are on continuous replay: "Daylight" by, David Kushner and  "Amazing" by, Teddy Swims.

Nothing beats a good ol' musical to set the mood for the day. Whether it's Hamilton, Hades Town, Come From Away, Moulin Rouge, The Greatest Showman, Grease or my all time favourite, EVITA.  If you're a fan you know what I'm talking about.

A story through songs, does it get any better than that?

Then you have the saddest most powerful song of all time.

Amazing Grace sung by, IL DIVO.  The one song that can make me cry every time. Yes, it's that powerful.

Or North to Alaska, by Johnny Horton when I want to hear my Dad sing to me. I become that little girl, who just wants her daddy.

Music is one of the most powerful healers available to us,  and it's free. All you have to do is listen with an open heart.

arms wide open,

Carrie
